About Barnes Babysitters
Barnes Babysitters offers a subscription-based membership providing the best professional babysitting services to you locally. We offer you weekend and evening childcare in and around Barnes.
Barnes Babysitters ensure that all our babysitters have experience in all types of childcare.
Unlike many of big babysitting services that are on offer, we can guarantee that all of our sitters have an up to date DBS check, are paediatric first aid trained, all references are checked and all our babysitters have at least two years childcare experience. This is for your peace of mind, so you know that we have done the groundwork ensuring your children are safe and happy while in our care.
We can ensure the absolute best childcare for your little VIPs.
Not only do we offer a babysitting service, but our membership pages also provide advice on daytime childcare for your family, with our helpful guide on what to look for and links to local professional childcare providers, making life that little bit easier.
With our vast knowledge of the area, we have put together a helpful guide to show you children’s activities within our local area.
We also will be providing you with resources to help you manage your home life.
Barnes Babysitters are proud to announce that if you are a member you will also be able to take advantage of our tutoring service for children ages 4-12.
About our founder, Anna Wigley
“My family have lived in Barnes for generations, I have lived and worked in Barnes all my life - so it’s safe to say it is my home. I have a passion and commitment and work with different charities in the area.
As a Mother, Grandmother and Foster carer, (even with family nearby), I understand the struggle of finding childcare, I work as a OFSTED registered childminder in Barnes, I am always being asked if I know of any good babysitters. Well I do, lot’s of them!
With this in mind I decided to create Barnes Babysitters for the local community.
The service does not only offer babysitting, but our members can also access our tutors as well as general advice and a list of local resources.
I qualified as a Person-Centred Counsellor 20 years ago - working with many different issues - I often thought about how I would rather work with children and believed that if we could get the balance right in the younger years, then maybe not so many adults would need counselling. I then went on to study play therapy.
It was at this time I was approached by the Head Teacher at my daughter’s school in Barnes. I was asked if I had ever thought about working with children with special educational needs, and if I would therapeutically work with a child who had just come into the school. I jumped at the opportunity and this was the beginning my journey working with many different children.
I spent the next 13 years working in Education and by the time I left I was a ‘Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant’.
I moved on and opened my own childminding business to educate children in my home. I believe that children take in more information when it is combined with play; everything is easier when it is fun - We would go off on adventures to the Sea Life centre, Legoland, zoo or the farm. We would also use lots of playgroups, story clubs and lots of other wonderful places that are all designed to help our children learn and grow right on our doorsteps.
As a childminder in Barnes, I do not believe we get enough credit, were you aware that Childminders are regulated by OFSTED, they teach children the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework just as a nursery and must be inspected and rated.
It is with over 30 years experience in childcare that I bring to you Barnes Babysitters, both in the content and curation of activities that I recommend.”
